I have been told by my local dealership that my 1995 six speed is special. When I took it in for service I was told that I have a special transmission, that was only put in very few 95 models. That it could not be repaired, but had to be sent back to GM for replacement. GM had to have the complete core before they would send a replacement. Of course it was very expensive. Does anyone out there have any idea of what I have, or have I been taken in a large way?

Thanks vettelt, I am beginning to think you are right. No one seems to have heard of this. They told me that it was normally coupled with the big V8. My "big" V8 is the LT1. I contacted Chevrolet, and they let me know the six speed production run for 1995 which I can get at the action center. Thanks again, I guess I learned an expensive lesson.

6 speed Tranny oil

Would it be o.k. to drain the 6 speed tranny and then replace the oil with Mobil 1?

thanks

Tranny oil

You need to use transmission oil. It runs about $8.75 per quart at the Chevy house.
