I went to the track last Saturday, only had one run and I messed it up at that, I bogged it coming off the line, 2.65 60 foot time.

But I ran through the traps at 106.9 MPH, I figure with a decent launch I should be looking at a low 13 second pass - ???

Also, I slid the clutch in from about 2000, way to low. What do you launch at?

Thx

My local strip is at 2600ft. The C5's here run in the 13.9-14.1 area at about 104MPH. My Z06 with drag radials and vararam runs 12.5 @113MPH (12.42 best). I think that low 13's would be optimistic for a stock C5 at this elevation, but maybe it is possible at sea level. The biggest variable will be the launch. Wheelspin is generally bad. A good 60' time would be in the 1.9 second area. I hope that this helps some.

About a year ago in Germany, I ran a 13.8 at 104mph on a 100 degree day. I do not know the elevation. At the time, the only mods I had were a K&N filter with a Z06 air cleaner cover. I launched at 2000 rpm and only had a bit of wheel spin. The track had plenty of rubber on it so traction was not an issue. That was with the stock runcraps.

In a car mag article I read concerning the 2004 corvette, the writer said the best launches for a 1/4 mile were done at 2500 rpm.

The track I go to is at sea level. I figure that if my C4 ran a 13.59 stock, my C5 with 50 more ponies and 200 pounds less weight should do better.

My lack of skill with the 6 speed seems to be the problem. Thanks

I noticed late model Corvettes really take a big hit in performance when it gets hot out. I am going to try 2500 to launch at.

Just remember, an automatic can always produce more consistent shifts. Also, that loooooong throw with the stock shifter is probably good for adding a tenth or 2.

I guess I should add that my car is a 6sp with factory shifter as well.

At Raceway Park tonight. I can hold my head up high now!
wanna run? :D

Sure !!!!

(OH, I will send you the in car vid, and the one of my next pass, showing why you dont speed shift with the traction control off)

When where ? Just dont make it on a day when the track is having an "event" as in hours between passes.

You guys are meaning 2500 in 2nd right?
No, I mean first gear. I launch higher than that- maybe 3500-4000RPM in first. I do my burnout in second, but I launch in first.

Nice run! Congratulations!
I wonder what I would run at sea level. I thought that my elevation cost about 0.3-0.4 seconds. Maybe it is more?

You know, he's not called Mad Mic for no reason. :D

Oh Lord- Warren vs. Mad-Mic at the track!

Set your wagers here, folks. I sense this challenge could have the aroma of testosterone hanging about the room.

Um... vids from both sides, please! :D

(I can't wait to see this challenge! Warren's "zen-time" C5 vs. Mad-Mic's "Respect My Ow-Thor-ee-tay!" C4. This could be interesting.)

I need to scan my time slip and post it, I think with differnt tires I could do a slight bit better, my 60 foot time was 2.09 so there was some wheel spin (or clutch slipping) but the LS1 made up for it.

MAC, I think I need to take a trip down to Ceicle raceway, getting a digital cam corder and will need to break it in.
