Thinks about purchasinga 68 or 69 Tri Power and was wondering if they are hard to maintain and keep tuned? Would appreciate any insight anyone would have on this?

I don't have the tripower setup, but it's definitely the most pretty looking to me. I've heard tuning the three carbs can be a real nightmare. But I don't have any actual first- or second-hand data to give you.

Actually, the factory 3x2 setup is pretty simple, and no "tuning" is required - just go with the factory jetting and don't cobble up some "progressive" linkage setup - the factory vacuum-actuated end carbs work just fine.

The "look" is neat, but from a pure performance perspective, a 4-barrel on the right manifold will out-perform them.
