Do any of you guys have any experience with Edelbrock carbs. I am still having some low speed and idle problems, along with occasional backfiring thru the carb. I have checked out the distributor, timing is set at 16 btdc,36 all in by 2800rpm and there is no popping out the exhaust on the overrun so hopefully no vacuum leaks. The edelbrock manual is a little bit confusing. It suggests that big cams (the performer rpm cam has 510" lift) with low vacuum at idle might require lighter springs to allow the needles to stay seated at low rpm presumably to prevent "flooding" but in the trouble shooting section it suggests the opposite, stonger springs to get more fuel in if the motor is stumbling at low speed. Do`es anyone out there fully understand how these carbs work ? High rpm is no problem and the engine never misses a beat after about 2,500rpm all the way to the rev limiter. Any comments would be appreciated.
Thanks
J.
