I have a whole lot of play in my turn signal lever...How do I fix? Do I need to remove the steering column?? Appreciate nay help.

Andy

You don't have to remove the steering column, but you will need to remove the wheel. You will need a puller to get it off, and I suggest that you label everything in the order you take it off so you remember how it goes. There is a clip that holds a plate and spring and the turn signal assembly is under that. You can purchase a new turn signal assembly at most of the normal places, or take your's out and see if you can adjust it to save some money. After you get the assembly back in the clip is a P.I.N.A. to put back. I found that a curved pair of needle nose pliers was able to get into the slot and it made it easier to hold the spring back while putting the clip in. I'm sure there is a tool for this, but I didn't have it.

I'm going on memory but I believe you can remove the lever by pushing in and turning counter clockwise. this may not resolve your problem but will allow you to remove the lever.

You can remove the turn signal lever by pulling hard on it. It kind of pushes in/ pulls out with a litte force. The tilt/adjust lever is threaded and screws in. I would recommend replacing the turn signal switch. I replaced mine a few years ago. Not very expensive, $25-$30, nor complicated. Over time the switch probably begins to wear as it is a moving part. That is most likely the culprit. If not, you have a new switch that did not cost much and would need replacing anyway in the future.
