Has anyone heard of a 1976 bicentennial edition Corvette? A guy at a drive in told me a friend of his had one, and i didnt know they exsisted?

Can anyone clear this up, Thanks

sounds made up to me!

"Ultra Rare ?" . . .

"Ultra Rare" and "76" aren't generally heard in the same sentence.... Sorry to burst the bubble but, No - - there was no bicentennial edition of a Corvette unless it was created by a local dealer or hopeful owner!

They did make a Bicentennial Cadillac--probably where the confusion started.

A buddy of mine bought one used in the late 1970's. I was with him when he bought it. It was blue, and had red/white decals that ran over all four wheel wells. That's about all I can remember about it....the decals were really tacky, IMHO. He wrecked it a few weeks after.

My 1976 has the orginal liense plates that has "1976 Bicentennial" on it that is as close as I come to a "Bicentennial" model 1976, I guess it was something that a individual dealer put together.

;LOL :beer

I guess I should have mentioned in my previous reply that I don't remember seeing any "badges" indicating it was a bicentennial model/edition. It looked like a typical 1976 corvette in every sense of the word except for the decals over the wheels. I could see where this might have been a dealer option, since all they'd have to do is slap these on. Is your corvette blue?

I had a Vega that was a bicentennial edition, it was white with blue and red stripes, and a little sticker below "VEGA" that had a eagle with some kinda badge. It also had the Vega GT wheels that where crome, I do remember at the time everyone wanted those rims, and would always ask where they came from. Not sure if it was a GM thing or dealer, or someone made it up, but I do remember cars with the same sticker package on them from that era.

This was a dealer add on in 1976. Very common with the NOVA, it was a basic white care with red and blue side stripes. It was not a factory applied package, and is not considered one in the Corvette Black Book. It was a gimiac to sell cars. I remember everyone was waiting for a red white and blue Corvette, but nothing happened. BTW 1976 was one of the highest year volume sales of Corvettes. This Corvette is nothing really special.

Excuse Me? Everyone knows these were very special Corvettes!

Now those midyears, well .... I was always told, if you can't say something nice, then ...

:L :w

TOUCHE....you got me...all Vettes are special. I should have said, they are not as common as the 76 stock vette....:L

hummm....would it really matter that much? I was recently at a car show where this guy and I were oogling this 66 vert...extremely nice...and the fella next to us says,"heck..that's nothing...a guy up there has an 85 Monte Carlo Limited Edition". Come again?? I am not sure why people get all juiced up about these 'special edition' versions of higher production cars.

The only special badge my 76 Vette has on it is the Rusty Jones sticker on the back of the windshield...that will never come off!

The only 76 ultra rare car i know of has a toilet in it. now that is rare. Dose ur 76 have a toilet in it?

What?? A dealer slapping on some decals and charging an extra couple hundred bucks!!?!?!? They wouldn't do that just to make some extra money, . . . would they??????? :D

;LOL

YES. I not only heard of it, I know someone right now that has one. I was told it was red, white, and blue. A 1976 for the bicentennial year. He has a cover on it, so i really haven't seen it but i will one of these days.

This thread is ten years old. Please post pics of the car you mention. I have never seen any type of official bicentennial trim package for the 1976 Corvette. In his book The Original 1973-1977 Corvette Fact Manual, Peter Licastro mentions an accent package was available. This is the only reference in print I have ever seen.

I find it significant no pictures of any type of Corvette bicentennial trim have surfaced for the 1976 models.

Sorry, I've been sick with collitus. But I did talk to the guy about it and he said it came from the factory red, whit, and blue. All i have to do is talk him into letting me see it and take pictures. When this happens, I will post the pics. Sorry again for taking so long to get back to you.
