One of my winter projects is to insulate my car to also help get some of the heat out of the floor boards. Has anyone used a product called Hushmat?
:mad

I just went to Lowe's and got a roll of Reflectix. Covered the entire pass. space with it and it seems to have done a pretty good job.:beerArt

Do you know if they make it with a adhesive backing?

I just got a roll of the metal silver colored tape used on air conditioning plenums and taped the joints and around the edges. It was in the same department as the Reflectix.

I was also looking for something that I could use under the car in the trans tunnel. anyone used it in that part? I have a lot of heat coming from there.:mad

i found at my local auto parts store (pepeboys) a roll of jute with a reflective heat barrier on one side. i cut it into sections then taped them together with the ac reflective tape. i also sprayed the floors with 3M undercoating as i believe this aslo helps with deading the sound and the heat.

Form and cut the heat shield material to fit then spray it and the floor with 3M carpet and trim adhesive and stick in place.

There should be a foil covered insulation on the underside of the transmission tunnel and a foam collar between the bell housing and the front of the transmission tunnel.

Yeah I have the collar from Doc Rebuild. And my trans tunnel insulation is MIA. I want to put something back in its place. I don’t want to pull the trans to do it though. So I am looking for some type of adhesives backed insulation. That would hold up to the heat and that I could work around the trans.

+1 on the reflectix. Works great and the floorboards don't get too hot. Use 3m Spray adhesive to secure it. It conforms to the body extremely well. Check my interior rebuild thread to see it.

If you're doing it on the interior, use the reflectix around the trans tunnel and that should be sufficient. If you are wanting something between the body and the transmission, you may have to get a shop to fab a metal heatshield for that
