Under hood lights

They should come on automatically when you open the hood.

You could have a burned out fuse. The fuse is located in the left side of the nose, down just below or behind the front side-marker. It is in a little plastic cover that looks like a quick disconnect for wires.

If not that, check the bulbs... if not the bulbs, I am guessing that the switch has gone bad.

I leave mine out unless I need the lights. I keep the fuse laying loose on the screen above the firewall near the wipers. It stays there really well.

The previous person was showing the car with the hood open. The fuse was removed to keep the battery from running down. I remove my fuse at shows all the time. It looks better than having the wires disconnected.

A better solution is a small rocker switch installed under the hood. I picked up a complete kit with wires, switch, tiewraps, etc from Gordon Killebrew's company (supposed to be www.gordonkillebrew.com, but that URL doesn't work right now; try 1-800-F-Y-VETTE) for about $10. You drill a small hole in the wheelwell and screw the switch in there. Looks good, works great.

Also, FWIW, I think the older C4's have two mercury switches, one for each light (just like what's in the center console door).

I put a pushbutton switch in mine that allows me to turn off the lights. Total cost about $8 and 15 minutes worth of my time.

I have some pics but can't find the link. I'll post them tonight when I get home.

Switches are okay but I can't see any problem with popping open the fuse holder and pulling the fuse. Cost is zero. Appearance is unchanged. I put the fuse in my pocket and try t remember to put it back in before I leave the show - just like switchers have to remember to turn the switch back on.

BTW, early C4's do not have the fuse under the hood. I can't remember what MY the change - maybe 90/91 - was made but Gordon Killebrew can be thanked for that also.

A couple of differences, actually. My switch is rated at 3 million uses and the plastic fuse housing isn't (Mine has a small crack on the lip)

In the dark, I don't have to find the fuse and try and find the holder, I just flip a switch. :D

Seriously though, it was just something I wanted to do, not a must-do type thing....

Disconnected mine, so if I need to leave the hood open, dosen't drain the battery.
Just some FYI.
