Gary,

I usually unplug mine when I have the hood up for a while, check the connectors.

Or maybe fuse, uh broken wire, check the soclet for power woth a meter.

The fuse for the hood lights is the same 15 amp fuse for the radio and interior lighting on my 88. I just fabricated two mounting brackets with switches so I can turn mine off when the hood is up. Check for voltage at the connector for the light that doesn't work. If voltage is there it's probably the mercury switch in the lights housing.

I was not aware of that nyernga, thanks for the info, and the switch would be a good idea.

Thanks

Now that I think about maybe that is the problem with the drivers side on mine, it is very intermitent but something to look at.

Move the receptacle into which the bulb fits back and forth a bit against the metal piece on the main lamp assembly into which the receptacle, itself, fits. I know this sounds odd, but the electricity flows through this metal piece into the receptacle for the bulb (and then to the bulb). For some reason, the connection is pretty fussy, and can get lose, corroded etc. even though it appears to be o.k. I had the same problem, and a little cleaning of the metal piece and bending outward (with needle nose pliers) of the metal on the receptacle solved the problem. Also, be sure to wear gloves or put a cloth over the bulb, as it gets super hot immediately when it lights up.
