Useful information, but off-topic for the radiator.

The fan shroud can be removed without removing the hood, alternator, ac compressor, etc.
With the shroud out, the radiator comes out relatively easily.

The trick with the shroud is you put it in on its side, and then twist it.
I wish I had a better way to describe it.

I start with the driver's side of the shroud pointed towards the ground. It gets about 1/2 way down and then I start to rotate it so that the top is up.

It may take a few tries, but eventually you figure out the geometry and then it just pops in and out.

Good luck!!!

I want to thank everyones input. I did fix the issue. Altho I wished that I had waited until minifridge submitted his reply. I ended up sending back the larger radiator and got the direct fit radiator from CC which is very nice. Because I wanted something now and not later and faced with alot of frustration not only from the car but other areas of my life, I carefully cut the shroud in half.

The cons to this are that it is no longer factory. Altho most c3 owners are modifing there vettes in some way. The pros to this is that I have an easier time with conecting the trans cooler pipes, lower hose. Before doing this I spent some time looking on all the other vette forums in their arcives on this issue and found that the main reason for people changing to the electric cooling fans was because of the POS, or the PITA fan shroud. So now I am not feeling bad. This issue has been delt with and now I am onto another part of the car.

Thanks once again for your input.

I hope that the threadjacker got his brake issue fixed.:L
