1994 white convertible
Hey guys I am new here and have a question on a 94 convertible. In the engine compartment drivers side front by the headlight, there is a canister or a motor.(not sure). There is a purple plug that goes to it. the plug has been disconnected since I purchased it. Seems to run fine but I would like to know what it is. Thank you in advance for your help.

I believe you are looking at the "secondary air injection" pump that is supposed to pump fresh air into the exhaust manifolds to help clean up emissions.

Thanks Tuna. I wonder why the person I bought it from unplugged it? Do you know if it's ok to leave it unplugged or should I plug it in and hope for the best? I don't want to get an engine light or something worse.

It's likely that the pump failed or was making a lot of noise, so the previous owner just unplugged it.
I do not think they are available any more from GM either.

You might want to search for other threads on the A.I.R. pump and see what pops up.

I've been out of C4s for too long and probably need to let a current C4 person jump in here.
