Hi all, Thanks for the advise on the 70 mph frontend vibration problem I was having. I took the car in today to get the tires balanced......I couldn't help myself....Figured the vette needed an early Christmas present and Bought New tires. They go on Tuesday morning so Ill let you know if that takes care of the problem. I appreciate all the help! Gary

When I bought my 84 I also had a vibration problem at about 50 mph. Turned out the previous owner had new front tires installed and that was it! The first thing I did was bring the car to my tire guy and was told the tires were not even balanced!
I try not to over look the obvious.
Enjoy the vette today!

Hi Bremis, I think the guy that put the tires on your 84 was the same guy that put the tires on my 85 LOL. Im looking forward to seeing how the car handles and drives with the new meats. Im pretty sure it will solve the vibration problem. If not...well...Heck at least I got her new tires LOL.
Thanks for the reply! - Gary

The wide tires have to be balanced much more often than normal widths. The balance seems to be constantly changing throughout the life of the tire. Not sure, but the Firestone Firehawks seem to need balancing more often than the runflats (which I enjoyed I could stand). Of course it doesn't help that the car sits a lot then makes 500-1,000 mile runs.
Hot tip for Corvettes: buy tires at a place that offers free lifetime balancing! :dance :dance

Boy thats some Xmas present for an inanimate object...

Bob! Shame on you! How dare you call a Corvette an inanimate object!! LOL
