URGENT HELP PLEASE!!!!!

Barry -

I have a set I could be willing to part with. Or, I will trade a good one for your cracked one with a little $ incentive. They are hanging on my wall.

I'm not sure what you mean by "without the casting flaw". If you would like, I can take a photo and send you a PM. I've had them since 1986 or so, was gonna put them on a 327 I'm building for a '70 El Camino. I've got no issues with repairing yours and using it instead. I could shoot it wrinkle black and polish out the fins and script. I'm building the car to sell it after about a year, anyways.

If your plan doesn't pan out to your satisfaction, I'm willing to assist. :)

thanks Rick!

you mind sending me a pic just in case I will need them?

The casting flaw started in '66 when the mold cracked and there is a line that goes through the cover right across the letter "O" of the script letters.

also, would you mind PM'ing me or include on your email what you want for the pair.

my email addy is:
bkimmelman at comcast.net (the at=@ and no spaces of course)

Hi Barry -

I honestly don't know what I should ask for them. I have no idea what would be fair for both of us, so...like my father tells me "let your conscience be your guide". :D

I will take a couple of photos tonight when I get home and send them to your e-mail. One slight problem-my digi is set on hi-resolution photos, and I lost the owners manual. So the photos are like, uh, 1-2 MB each. I hope your e-mail can accept that. I will get shots of both sides of the covers. Best regards,

Rick

Ah!

Copy all. Will advise soonest. I know I can't post a picture here, but maybe when Barry gets the photos, he can resize and post.

Can't say offhand if mine have the flaw or not. :confused

But, they are original and genuine, and for you, Barry-they will need a little cleanup. You'll see when I send you the pics-which will be about 9 p.m. your time. It's all good...:)

I like the CAC :CAC. So, I'm happy to help out a fellow Forum member.

thanks Rick!!
yes, a 1 or 2 mb photo will be fine and my email should handle that with no problem.

Barry -

You've got e-mail. Unfortunately, they DO have the casting flaw, I guess that means they are '66-up. :cry

Anyone know when they stopped producing these and went to the LT-1 style? Those are the ones I usually run on my SBC's. :)

Wow-you are up late. Try again. I maybe overwhelmed the box the first go. I just sent individual pictures via 4 sendings.

Still, owning a '65 means you won't want the wrong covers.

Rick

got your emails and replied to them.

Yep, they have the casting flaw which is a shame because they look as if they would clean up very nice otherwise.
still, IF I need to get a replacement set and can't find any others in decent shape at a decent price i'd consider them as the casting flaw can be removed, albeit with a LOT of extra work.

REPAIR

There is a product called alluminoy spelling miight be wrong. It will repair it saw it advertised on tv.All you need is a propane torch.

well, I"M not taking a torch to my covers! ;LOL
I'll have a profession do this job for me

Hi Barry -

Glad you got the photos okay. You are welcome to post them here if you would like. Some might like to see my "valve cover wall"-a small sample of what's in my stash...:D. And, those are wiring harnesses you see in that photo-cowl forward for Chevelle/Camaro/Nova.

Sorry I couldn't hook you up. Ah well, it was worth a try. I hope you are able to get yours repaired and "correct" for your needs. Best,

Rick
