hello everyone,

i am lookin for an online vacuum diagram for an 85 vette, if it is out there i know someone here can tell me where to find it. the problem is the idle ramps up and down and i still cant get my cruise control to work. i found a leak on the pass side by the feul rail, but cant find where the lines go.

any help would be much appreciated

thanks,

chris

The best I could come up with when I was into mine Chris, was in the Helm Service Manual, in the electrical supplement section. Even then you only get pieces at a time and not the whole vacuum routing diagram. I'm not sure that one exists. ;shrug

Give me an idea what connection your looking for and I'll check mine. the factory routing is on a sticker on the hood!

I always forget about telling people about that one Ernie; probably because mine is long-gone. :L

_ken :w

Yes your wouldn't help you, but i pulled mine off and put it back after the work was done! Mine is mostly stock (or looks that way)

here is a pic

hey guys,

this might be easier if i post a pic so you can see whats leaking.

Vacuum Leak

After looking at your picture and looking at my engine compartment, (also an 85 coupe), I think that that piece your vacuum line goes into, has to do with the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR). It is a vacuum controller for the EGR if I am not mistaken, and they are available through Mid Amereica or some other similar outlet for less than $40, if my memory serves me correctly.

The bad thing is that at nearly 20 years of age, many of the rubber parts on our engines which haven't been disturbed are becoming porous or brittle, and very small holes become major problems which will drive you crazy if you don't keep up with them. You might consider replacing all the underhood hoses based on age alone. I hate to say it bu vacuum actuated parts suffer the same maladies as the hoses.
