Vacuum headlight problem (stay open!)

I've been following Peter's issue and wondered how big the vette population was in the Netherlands, then I see Antz's comment and wondered the same about New Zealand. In my area of the US(and I imagine all over the US), there's a wealth of local vette guys willing to give advice/help besides the nuggets I pick up here on the forum. Whats it like there?? Are you more reliant on what you can get online? Just curious...

Overhere in Holland a Corvette isn't a common car to see. I think I come across one on the road I think max 4 times a year. If it's on the driveway I think 90% don't know its a Chevrolet (the same with my Pontiac) We do have a few companies that sell parts around 2x the US price. When I need parts ASAP it isn't a problem, when I have some more time then Gerry always helps me out! :thumb
We do have 3 Corvette clubs and an active online forum so nothing to complain about really.

As for the lightproblem, turns out the new lightswitch shorts out when turning the dimmer to full (always on) so I changed it back to the old one and now everything is fine. First I was thinking that putting the new one in was a good idea as one day the old one will pass away. Now the old one is just fine :D

Greetings Peter

Glad you got it worked out Peter. :thumb

As to Otters question:
I was very surprised how "normal" Corvette's are when i moved to PA. That was (ugh!) 17 years ago.. Basically, seeing a Vette is a common thing. People around everywhere and even a shade tree mechanic can fix them..

Back in my native Frankfurt/Germany: Back to being the odd one. We here in Germany have a "large" community, but specialty shops have to take care of them, as a run of the mill shop specializes in VWs, MBs, Audis etc.. Opel is (Was!) officially the service station, but they messed up my car BIG time (still kicking myself for taking it there, i should have known better). So, long story short: Not a "Rare" car, but a head turner when people see one, no matter what year. No real mechanics. I have 3 mechanics/stations around/in Frankfurt (and we are a bigger town). And really only 1 shop i can go to that sells US parts in Frankfurt proper. Which is quite an improvement from 21 years ago when i bought it.. :L
