I have been working on the vacuum lines under the hood of my car and have a question about one. This is the line that goes to the vacuum controlled EGR/EFE switch that is part of the thermostat housing and has 3 vacuum ports on it; one is the vacuum source from the carb and the other two routed vacuum out to controll these two devices.

The EGR valve was removed when the intake manifold went on. The EFE actuator was removed when the headers went on. The two vacuum lines going out to these devices have been capped off but the manifold source is still attached.

My question is since these two devices are gone and the vacuum from the switch does nothing, can I do away with the vacuum source to the switch from the carb and simply cap it at the carb.

personally, i don't see why not. try it, and if doesn't work, you can always reconnect it

I think you would be surprised at the number of lines that can be capped off inside the engine. When I first found this 76 she had a screw in so many lines I was amazed that she even wanted to start up. Next trick was trying to figure out where they were all connected before. Like 81 Corvette says, give it a try. See what happens.

Yup, cap off the source at the carb - no problem. :)
