I am looking for a step-by-step guide for checking the vacuum system on my 95 LT-1. I found a nice one for the LT-5 secondary vacuum system but it is not very relevant. I have come across some in a few manuals also, but I need one for the DIY/garage mechanic with limited budget and tools. I am trying to diagnose a nagging rough idle and slight ping. I have taken a break from the garage after replacing the optispark for the second time in 4 months. Also I survived a recent mass layoff so now I have a little money in the automobile budget.

I looked thru the factory manual & can find nothing you could use. It hardly mentions vacumn unless it is HVAC or Cruise control. I could have missed it, but I don't think so. There is a vacumn connection under the pass/side fuel rail that tends to deteriorate, have you checked that. Any codes? Wish I could be more help.

I got about the same results with the GM Service Manual. I wish I was getting codes, I can do something with those. The connector you mention is suspect but I want to avoid blindly replacing parts. If it turns out to be inexpensive I may just start there anyway. Thanks for the response.
