Question: Valve Cover Gaskets

I always glue the gaskets to the valve covers with a thin bead of Permatex "Ultra-Copper" RTV and let them set for 24 hours before installing them; make sure the sealing flange on the covers is nice and flat first, especially around the bolt holes. Have never had a leaker. :)

Don't over-torque the bolts - it'll distort the cover flange, and they'll leak.

I have used these in the past and have never used anything but the gasket it self. the rubber gasket actually deforms when torqued down and makes a good seal. MLD
WOW, this is kind of an old thread. I was having some issues with my current setup but all good now.

When doing mine, I always do like mentioned above. Glue the gasket to the valve cover, let it set over night, then install the cover. This method has always worked well for me.

Cork or rubber I also glue the gasket to the valve cover with weather strip adheisive and dry on the engine side.
