Does the vat system stop your car from cranking or does it stop the enjectors from spraying fuel. thanks

Car cranks won't start.

if the starter enable relay hasn't been bypassed vats will do both.

That's interesting. I have issues with my 89 that cranks but won't re-start after warm up. I have also put in the VATS bypass kit that MAD sells. I'm wondering if the resistor has become flaky. When cold she starts up just fine.

If the car cranks, but won't start, I don't believe it it the VATS. When I had problems with my VATS, it wouldn't crank at all, and I believe that is the way the system is designed. It sounds like you have other problems. Check for codes first, and if you have a manual, check the troubleshooting section:beer

Yours sounds more like a faulty MAF sensor or a maf related relay.

I had the vats issue on my 96, the starter would not engage at all. The vats system will cut off power to the starter in addition to the injectors.

Vat's can shut down many things,Depending,Different years can do a little different things at different times!!:thumb
I have a buddy that went the route with a VAT's system on his car!!:boogie:boogie:boogie
His car just shut down going to work 1 day, after calling me and telling me I was full of Crap when I told him he had a VATS problem!!
He spent 6 weeks time after work and
1 Fuel Filter
1 Fuel Pump
1 Fuel Pump Relay
1 Ignition Module
1 Coil
1 Distributer Cap
1 Set of Plug Wires
8 Spark Plugs
1 Re-man Distributer
1 StarterAbout 3 rolls of wire by-passing things!!;LOL;LOL;LOL
And about 10 calls to me,every time me telling him He Had a VATS problem!!:thumb

Well, after he finely listened to me,I had it running in 30 minutes with
1 VOM
1 Pair of Dikes (To cut out his wire butchery!!)
1 Roll of Electrical tape
1 Soldering Iron
3 Resisters from Radio Shack!!
Because by then he was too Broke to buy a $45. Lock Tumbler Assembly and a $12.00 key!!:thumb:thumb:thumb
