VBP 550 lb/inch Front Coil Spring Install
I installed the right side front coil spring today with the VBP 550 lb/in coil. I have to order a new left side lower control arm before doing the left side (the stock left control arm has frozen bushings and can't be removed without damage).
The installation instructions say to be sure that the "close" coils are on top, but the spaces are essentially uniform. An easier way to identify top from bottom is that there is a small notch gound into one of coils ends -- this is the BOTTOM.
The installation was relatively simple (I think partially because these springs are much shorter than the stock ones). I just used a spring compressor to compress the spring BEFORE installation (be sure that the tightening/loosening nut is on the bottom); I then lined up the coil spring to match the indentation in the top housing, and then used a floor jack to lift up the lower control arm/steering knuckle assembly.... put on the castlleated nuts on the ball joints and tightened em up.
One thing to remember!!!... DO NOT FORGET to install the little cone-shaped rubber bumper for the upper control arm BEFORE this installation!... I forgot, and had to do the above process twice!
