Okay, I must be going nuts. Here's the deal. On my '81, there are two wires in the RH power window motor harness. One is blue (down) and one is tan (up). The ground is directly through the body of the motor to the door. So far, so good but now it gets wierd. The window motor rolls up, but not down. OK, so I whip out my handy-dandy test light and check if there is power to each of the wires when the switch is activated. There is. Now if I take the wiring clip off of the motor and run a jumper wire directly to the tabs, I can make the motor go up OR down. The tan wire will make the motor roll up or down depending on which tab I attach it to. Yet the blue wire will not do EITHER. Yet it test out at 11.41 volts just like the tan wire does! :confused The only thing I can think of is that maybe even thought the wire shows 11+ volts and will light the test light, it is not carrying enough current to run the motor. Does this sound like the right direction to you folks? If so could it be corrosion in the switch? I tried to get an amperage reading from either wire but couldn't get anything at all. (Probably because I wasn't using the multi-meter correctly) I just wanted to bounce this off the forum here before I go buy a new switch for 37 bucks. Anyone able to enlighten me on this one?
Thanks in advance!
