Vette Motor Value?

Hello All,

I Currently have a 1967 rs/ss camaro with a vette motor in it. I am thinking about going with a new crate motor. I am curious about the value of the motor that is in the car. It is still in the car and running. It is a, I believe, a 1969 dated 3904351 motor. runs great, it was professionally built in the 80's by Baily Brothers, who used to be located in Vallejo, CA.

it has been decked, but I am curious about the value. I know just the 3904351 blocks are selling for quite a bit, mostly in the 1967 dates.

But does anyone have any ideas about the value of this motor?

thanks, and I hope I picked the right forum.

Steve

Post the codes from the pad on the block at the front of the right head if the decking process did not machine them away. The first stamp will specifically identify the engine. The second stamp will identify the car the engine was originally installed in.

Some one might be looking for your engine.

:)

Thanks Mike,

Well the info from when i bought the car is not right. Just spent the morning getting all the numbers.

Motor: 3963512
date code: J 11 9
front pad is decked

Passenger side Head:
3873858
date code: A 29 6

Driver side Head:
3873858
date code: F 22 6

Thanks, Steve

With an October, 1969 casting date, the 3512 block would have been a 1970 454 block. Is the casting date on the rear flange or on the passenger side forward of the starter?

it is on the passenger side rear flange

That's right in the middle of the casting change period - it was used for both 427 and 454 applications during the '69 and '70 model years. The casting number on the rear flange says it was cast after the internal change, but it was still used in both displacements until the end of the '70 model year; after that it was 454-only.
