My car is a 1982 Corvette (350 CI) with a B&M TH700R4 (n° 117102 ) and B&M Holeshot 2000 Converter.

My problem is the following one: I have important vibration in my car.

Problem start, in the first time, only few seconds, just before or after the transmission go on the 4th gear.

Now, vibration are present between 1000 and 2000 rpm, only when I open throttle, and only on 4th gear (when I release throttle, and at steady rpm, vibration desappear....)

No problem at hight speed and on 1-2-3 gears.....

Kick down cable is correctly adjust (+0.19”), following B&M procedure....

All mounts (engine and trans)....shafts, u-joints... and balancing wheels are okay ......

Could it be a converter or a lockup problem??? If yes, how can I correct it???

Thanks

JeanLuc

Jeanluc,

When you're in fourth gear, depress the brake pedal lightly.
This will cause the torque converter to unlock. If the vibration stops, you found the problem.

thanks for the info, Pete.
I'm going to try it.
if the problem is this one...how to repair it??? replace the converter????

I would think that you would want to get the tranny checked out too, if you go to all the trouble of pulling it to replace the converter. A vibration in 4th gear usually means that the whole gear cluster assembly bearings are moving. If it's not just the converter.
A bad converter would require replacement. Maybe B&M would warantee it?

hello Black 81 Vette.
do you have the same problem than me???
