Well, here it is. Minnesota. Late January. Colder than a well digger's destination. The Vette is in hibernation. The seats are at the upholsterer's shop getting a new lease on life. The battery is in the basement. My cabin fever is beginning to stir. I need to "wrap my ass in fiberglass"

I find myself at the forums more and more. It is up to you Vetters in warm climes to provide mental fodder for us Vetters in the frozen North. Keep the stories coming in. I need the inspiration.

Ok, Here in Northwest Arkansas, the weather creeped up to 60degrees on Tuesday.

I took the T-tops off the vette and cruised around during my lunch break, and right after I got off work. I did need to keep the heater on, but what a sunny day!

However, wintery-mix is forecasted for tomorrow. :cry

Greetings to the north pasvorto1!

Having lived in up there for many years, I feel your pain. Walking out to a frozen garage, only look at your Vette, can be depressing. I used the 'opportunity' to pull any parts off I could and clean or paint them in the basement. It's a good time for all those small things to get done... if you haven't already, remove the tires and wheels and buff the hell out of them.

It's great driving the car all year without officially storing it; but even down here I take the car off the road during the cooler months to take care of a lot of the small things.

I know what you mean!!!! been just as cold here the past several weeks or so :ugh
looks like relief is in sight though...tonite another cold one but this weekend it's supposed to warm up(at least by our standards) to around 30 ...compared to what its been it'll feel like a heat wave!!!:J

It helps if you actually get in and sit there pretending to drive. For those of you with a manual... you can even practice your shifting. Sometimes just smelling the interior and looking at the dash helps me to remember a particularly nice cruise from the past summer.

man, i'm so glad that this topic came up. nice to know there is company in misery. it was -12 the other week, and i had a few pops, and spent over an hour in my garage, sitting in the drivers seat, and then the passengers side. wow, never looked at the car from that perspective. all i can say is that the groundhog had better not see it's shadow.

Damn it ...it's raining! Dang rain..well we needed it down here in texas..will be this way all weekend from what I hear..but back up into the 70's next week..guess will have to put off driving it a couple of days! But, when I get back into guys..will do a couple of burn outs and long cruises just for you snowbirds!

Yup, doesn't take long to get tired of winter, even when you've lived with it all your life; deep snow, howling 40-mph winds, blowing and drifting, and well below zero overnight for the last four days. Glad I have a heated garage!

Well, we've had 4 feet of snow in the last 7 days and weather lows in the 0 degree range--rather balmy unlike Minnesota's, now that's cold. Gale force winds reaching mid-80s on the cape snow drift across driveway getting a bit old and ache in knee turns out to be a torn ligament that puts the skis and snowshoes away for the winter. The bad news is my car is in a shop in Connecticut and even when they finish up it would take a miracle if I could drive it home before the beginning of April--which means no cheap thrills in the newly recovered seats imagining great thing past and future. I think I'm going to join my car in hibernation-wake me when the snow melts and mud season's over. As an avid Red Sox fan opening day has been known to be snowed out as late as the 2nd week in April. Ouch.

Het JohnZ--that ain't but mere flurries on your porch. I'm still trying to get my front porch dug out from the drifts so I can get mail as we haven't been able to get any since last Friday, which means a whole week without any Magazines to keep the gleam in my eyes alive.

I was tempted to take mine out of hibernation. We have a heat wave here in NW Pa., its 25 degrees. Still have a foot of snow on the ground but the roads are dry and clear.

How's the weather guys?

It is such a gorgeous day here... Man, these are the kinds of days we live for! :cool

I was out running around for awhile, and got a chance to wring it out a bit, something I don't often get a chance to do given where I live. It's running so good too; all I can say is that I really have GOT to get it out to someplace where I can find out its top speed. This thing acts like it has no end -- it just keeps on honkin' until I gotta back off. The upper gears are where it really gets its legs though; man, what a screamer!

I love it!! To borrow a quote from David Freiburger, Editor-in-Chief at Hot Rod magazine:

"Forget about all those namby-pamby cars with balanced performance, cornering prowess, braking accumen, and all those other slide rule sensibilities that have nothing to do with making fire, noise, smoke and going scary quick in a straight line."

But, I do have most of those things mentioned, and mine goes around corners and stops with the best of 'em. But... it also goes "scary quick" in a straight line.
