Here are some sounds of the stock exhaust on the ZR-1. Eventually I'll edit the sound part out and put it in my sig as I have done for the Aurora. Then I just need to record the Regal and the 200SX.

Rear of the car (~1.2MB, good audio of the engine)

Side of the car (~2MB, but best audio of the engine)

Laying down a bit of a patch (~1.2MB, pretty cool stuff.) Could have laid down more but you get the idea and I was running out of space. The tires scoot you forward pretty well even when breaking loose. I haven't done burnouts on too many cars, though. My '87 wouldn't smoke them but would put down some marks for a bit. I test drove a 4-speed LS1 Camaro once that made a huge smokescreen. But it moved more side to side than it did forward, probably due to the small 235 tires. I suspect it's harder to lay down a screen of smoke with wider grippier tires?

Quick vid of the patch left (~200KB, prolly should have taken a pict)

Inside the car, tach revving a little (~1MB, good audio)

The car cruising back (~1.2MB, you can hear the sort of mellow sound, but not worth downloading unless you've got broadband and are interested)

I really love the way the car sounds. I think if I went with an aftermarket exhaust, it would have to maintain that sound. The engine has a sort of high-tech sound in addition to the large 350 sound of a Chevy V8. I'd only heard about two ZR-1's previously and thought they sounded so good (I owned my '87 at the time).
