VIN Check

Stupid question maybe...my VIN is only 14 numbers. I'm trying to do a check on-line, but the sites all say that a VIN is 17 numbers.

???? Uh ????

Any ideas??

According to our own CAC information about these sort of things.. '73's had only 13 VIN numbers???
Our '91 has 17 so I suspect that they changed to some sort of standardization at one time or another!

Try it with an additional bunch of 0's in front or back of the existing number to make up 17.. Otherwise .. don't know!

That is correct. The 1973 model year only had 13 digits to the VIN. The 1981 model year was the first to come with a 17 digit VIN.

Oops - you're right I miscounted...it is 13 numbers...

I tried your sugestions, but, no luck.... any other sites on line to check VIN history?

Car Title Search

You may or may not be, but if your using Carfax they can only search 1982 model years and newer.
