He told me his sales mgr. was in Az. for a Dealer ride and drive of XLR last week. He went on to say Cadillac wants to offer NCM museum delivery for XLRs too! Now ain't that special! :mad

He must be full of it!

NCM does not stand for National Cadillac Museum.

;LOL Good call Heidi :D

:v - not xlRR's

Well what he said is if the NCM wont go for it Cadillac wants a "Special" factory delivery program of its own. So this means Cadillac people invading the Corvette plant at the very least. :mad

It doesn't necessarily mean that. They may work out something with a Caddy Dealer. Actually it isn't JUST a Corvette plant anymore is it?

I don't agree.
If someone is purchasing a Cadillac, why would they want to pick it up at a Corvette Museum? I understand Corvette and Cadillac building lines are completely different but at the same facility...so I am assuming that Cadillac will build a small facility (or area in/around) the Caddy line for Factory Delivery after a Cadillac line tour.
Besides...if Caddy people visit the NCM...isn't that more $ for the NCM?
Heidi

"Invading"!!!

Geesh CFour, you've really got something up your butt about this XLR!

I really don't see anything wrong with that. There will be two types of people purchasing two types of cars!!! This is not anywhere near as big a deal your always trying to make it out to be.

What's the big problem? I actually like the looks of the car. I love the looks of the C5 and C6 coming up and that's what I'll buy.

Chuck

also, there isn't going to be that many consumers who will know the XLR is built off of the C6's parts. A lot of people don't know squat about the car that they are driving. It's really not that big of a deal and I think this type of platform sharing will benefit both cars. I just want to finally see the C6 with my own eyes.

I think it would mean a lot more money for the NCM. I am sure the Cadillac executives are proud of the fact that the XLR shares components with the Corvette. Maybe we will see a Hyatt Regency being built next to the Baymont for the XLR guys.;LOL ;LOL ;LOL

Look on the bright side - perhaps Cadliac's involvement will improve the quality and reliability of the Corvettte.

No Way.! I know people in the Limousine biz that can buy Cadillacs for a lot cheaper than Lincolns but won't run them because they don't hold up. I have releatives that work for a Cadillac and Chevrolet dealership and they say the Chevys are better than the Caddys. Cadillac has a long way to go to catch up with the Lexus and Infinity cars or even to the Corvette and Impala for that matter. So lets just hope Corvette doesn't pick up any of Cadillac's BAD habits.

It's true. Chevy is ranked higher in reliability than Cadillac. Does it make sense because they are both GM products? Maybe not. But that's what the research shows.

The Corvette needs to be made simpler not more complex. Chevrolet needs to concentrate on performance and quality NOT electro-Jetson gee-gaws. What’s next a variable speed foot massage or a heart rate and cholesterol monitor? GM should stop designing the Corvette around how many golf bags they feel you should be able to stuff in to it. That's what SUVs are for. If things keep up the way they are going then GM will turn the Corvette into another all show little go, auto only, Jaguar XK8 or even worse another Ford Thunderbird. Let's get face it. The Miata should not be "tougher" than the Corvette. I rather see GM drop the Corvette rather than turn it into a "girly" car.

I don't own an SUV and I won't buy an SUV. The performance of the Corvette has never been so good. They'd better make room for my golf clubs! They are listening to me just fine.

I get more seat of the pants power now with unbelievable handling than I've ever gotten from a Corvette.

One of the reasons the Corvette gets more complicated is because they have to squeeze out every bit of performance and still satisfy big brother. That's the reason mid 70's and 80's were all show, little go ('82 was auto only).

You can't even begin to go down the Miata road with this. That's not even near a comparison. You are going overboard with that one.

I guess I have Corvette stamped in me too deep.

(I think women look beautiful in a Corvette) They like power just as much as us and sometimes more.

Chuck

If you are the guy they are listening to then PLEASE SHUT UP! :t
You don't see Chrysler bragging about golf club storage in the Viper. Yes, the latest Vette is fast and handles great, especially for the money. But if the GM execs who are trying to please as many customers as they can get their hands on it then it'll be more complicate and more of a compromise and less of a Corvette. Especially if they take it away from Chevy and let the luxury minded Cadillac people run the show.

The late 70s through early 80s performance suffered less from Big Brother than it did from the fat cats at GM sitting on their butts counting their money while the world changed. They knew the laws were coming but didn’t do anything about it till people went over seas for better cars. Porsche and Datsun had to meet the same EPA rules and their performance improved.

“Girly Car” is a term used to describe emasculated cute-mobiles like the VW Cabrio and Bug. A woman driving a Corvette is a “Real Lady”!

Be careful on those twisty roads Chuck. A Miata may pass you and cause you to spill your Cappuccino all over those expensive FootJoys. :argue

If you're trying to get me going on this, it just isn't going to happen. Look at the production figures. Look at all the people out there that are Corvette nuts. I'm not the only one that's out there liking these cars.

I can't believe that you don't like the trunk. I really don't golf that much, but you mentioned golf balls! I can actually put enough luggage in there to last for a week's trip!

GM wasn't the only one that was under powered in the 70's/80's, EVERYONE was. If what you're saying is right, then I guess they all liked counting the money.

I don't think the Corvette was and ever will be an emasculated cute mobile.

I have to try a Miata don't I.

The reference about Cappuccino and Footjoys did get to me a bit. That was an inference that wasn't called for. I work 12 hours a day, 6 days a week and have done that it seems forever. I work hard for my money. I don't like Cappuccino and Footjoys must be an expensive pair of shoes!!!

Calm down bluecoupe. You started this by saying Chevrolet is better than Cadillac. I AGREE!!!!!!
