Here's a thought for y'all ...

I think you all know by now that I'm just your typical gearhead, and being a typical gearhead/hot rodder, I'm never gonna be done. You know the saying, "Once you get to the rear end, you either start over at the front bumper or you sell it and start a new project."

Well, I don't want to sell it, but I would like to play with something different for awhile. Oops! :o No wisecracks you jokers! :nono

I'm thinking trade, sorta. Tell me if I'm way out of line here, but ...

Do you think anyone would want to trade a, how should I phrase it - "less than perfect", but not a complete basket-case, chrome-bumper Shark for my C4, less engine and transmission. The Shark's engine/trans wouldn't have to great, or even run for that matter.

Obviously the Shark would need some work, seeing as how it is a little more marketable than mine at this time, but you have to remember that mine has a Guldstrand set-up suspension, a newly-installed rear gear set (3.73s), a Be Cool radiator, either the Borbets or the new Weld wheels with the drag slicks and littles, a 3" custom exhaust system, a 5-point roll bar, and other stuff that I won't be able to transfer to a Shark. See my specs page for more information.

The body and paint are in damn good shape too. It must be with all the compliments I'm getting. :D

Whoever's interested would have to find and reinstall an air conditioner because I sold mine. That said, whoever's interested would have to be another gearhead/hot rodder like myself. You gotta love this stuff, you can't be in it for the money. :v (I love cars!)

Basically, it looks like I'm going to be starting from scratch body and paint-wise. ;shrug

So, whadya think? Is this a feasible idea, or is a chrome-bumper Shark asking too much? I don't really want to go soft-nose at all, but I'd be willing to talk.

I definitely want nothing newer than whatever the cutoff year is for the California smog police ('76? '75? :confused) - that's the reason for thinking about this trade.

And I also thought (think?) about building a real hot rod too, such as a '36 Chevy coupe, but I love you guys so much I just gotta get another Corvette! :L

Are you saying you want to trade your car with the engine and trans removed for a chomr bumper car? No one will do that, in fact I don't think anyone would trade a C4 without engine/trans for any C3. A c4 without an engine & trans is pretty much worthless.

The thought ain't been on my mind for awhile now, although I'd still like a chrome-bumper Shark someday. But then, I want one of everything someday too... :L

Edit: Ya know, this sorta brings up a interesting point. I've always proclaimed my love of automobiles in general. Hey, I'm a GEARHEAD.

Actually, it probably has more to do with machinery than anything else, but self-propelled machinery mostly; I like cars, trucks, boats, planes, tractors, trains ... You name it, I like it.

As far as cars go, whether by coincidence, choice, or simply a matter of cost, with few exceptions I've always had GM vehicles, mostly Chevrolets. I finally got my first Corvette in late '94 and have been "obsessed" with it ever since.

I never lost my love of all the other marques - the old as well as the new, and I won't hestitate to state my dislike if the manufacturer goofs up like GM did with the F-body.

However, when it comes to how far I will take that obsession I have to draw a line somewhere. I'll never be one of the purists, the devotees, the fanatics that some people, and some organizations are (or pretend to be). As much as I love the Corvette, it sometimes sends a chill up my spine to hear how others talk about one another's cars. The competitiveness of it all drives me crazy as well - I just can't be that competitive. Be competitive? Hell, I can't understand competiveness! I can only understand trying to do my best, not trying to run someone down.

I'll keep my C4 for awhile I think. Rant over. :w
