Hi you guys, i'm new to this site so please bare with me . I'm a collector of 1/18 scale di-cast Corvettes , i have 25 at the moment all pre 1980 . The Stingray body shape is the most beautiful design ever . [Better mention here , i'm in the U.K.] I am looking for a 1982 vette as , in my opinion , this was the last of that classic shape . Only seen one over here by Autoart selling for $114 . Does anyone know if any other maker has brought one out more reasonably priced .

Hello Mate..

Welcome to the CAC!

There is a few companies that make 1982 1:18 models. Burago, Maisto etc.. Here is a link to google for Maisto. But i have the AutoArt one as well as others.

One thing i always do is, when we are shopping i peruse the store shelfs in the matchbox/model section for any unusual Vette Models. While i prefer 1:18, i have a few others as well. And sometimes i go shopping in the US and have them either ship it back to Germany (depending the price) or to my in-laws in the US.

Let me know if you need more pointers as to where to look. Addicting, it can be.. :)

Over the years, I really haven't seen any other 82 Collectors Edition die cast versions. I bought the AutoArt version and yes it's pricey but the quality is there. It is a beautiful model with lots of very small detail and I am not dissappointed. The quality is very good with the Franklin Mint models as well. They are more money as well.

Hi , Stefan , many thanks for your reply . Think all the ones you suggest from Maesto are only available in the States . The cost of buying , shipping , import tax , vat etc will put it out of my present price range . Regards Nick .

Hi , thanks for your reply . the AutoArt version you mention is the only one i've seen available in the UK . I admit you get what you pay for .

Actually there are a few, not necessairly in 1:18, but i bought a 1:24 Zora at the NCM and i have a 1:8 being build (not a die cast but a plastic). I have the AutoArt one (from the UK coincidentally). The Franklin Mint one is rumoured to exist (Havent seen one). I'll dig out the list and post it here.

Nick, i'd go to a Toystore (not a Toys-R-Us, but a small Mom and Pop kinda store) and see if they can order stuff from the manufacturer. Also, if you look around Amazon, go to the amazon.de or .nl as well, inter EU shipping isnt bad and usually quick. As an example: LINK to Amazon.de with Toys (Spielzeug) Corvette 1 18.. Plenty of Maisto's to choose from. :)

Hey you guys what a responce ! Thanks . Dont know much about ' Welly' only what i've seen on US e-bay . Probobly the detail is nothing like Autoart . Carousel or F/Mint but "beggers cant be choosers" Not that it really matters but is red or silver the only colours available by Welly?

Welly also makes the 1982 along with the above mentioned Auto Art Collector Edition.Welly's were available in Red ,Silver,Black and White.
Auto Art had 2 versions with the latest having opening head lights and is by far the best of all the 82's produced. If wondering which diecasts were made I search Scale18's website alot for this. Here is a link to that search of the 1982's. http://www.scale18.com/cgi-bin/page...=-1&s2=-1&s3=-1&s4=-1&s5=-1&s6=-1&func=search
These 6 were the only 1982's produced in 1:18th scale.

Hi Bob , thanks for your reply . I've been looking for months on e-bay for an '82 but the only one ever to come up was the Autoart version at £80. However i had fun and games with german Amazon yesterday and ordered [at least i think i ordered] the Welly model for £27+pp . It was guess work even with translation. Will keep you updated. Take care Nick .:thumb

If you need a translator, feel free to send me an email/PM.. Born and raised in Frankfurt, but my english isnt too shabby. ;)

And for 27quid, that sounds reasonable. So, what'chu get ? :D

Cheers Stefan , appreciate that . There were two choices on the site , red or silver, both Welly . Chose silver as it looked more 'classy' . Now i'm curious about the shape of the '81 ? Nick:thumb

Hi Stefan , Welly version of '82 vette arrived this morning [1st] . First experience with Welly , quite pleased with it but as you guys point out detail is nothing like more expensive models . I ordered through German Amazon but was disappointed with actual seller , the outer box it came in was way over sized allowing the model box to float around [no packing whatsoever , just as well the car was held tight . Many thanks everyone for your help in my quest to find the '82 Regards Nick
