I installed a washer pump for my 68 which was missing when I bought it. The pump I have has two leads coming out of it... Red & Black. The new harness I've installed from Lectric Limited has a Dark Blue & Yellow wire with bullet connectors. Do any of you know which wire properly goes to what so I dont burn something up?

Lectric Limited says I have the wrong pump. The company I bought the pump from says bull... its a standard Delco part and have installed on many cars.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

I had pump problems on my 73 that I fixed a few days ago. On mine the Yellow went towards the drivers side. These wires activate the solenoid that triggers the actuator arm on the cog gear when you push in the washer knob and runs the pump for 1 cycle.

Jeff,

I don't think I'm understanding... the two connector leads on the washer pump are both on the same side (which is the driver side). Are you saying the Yellow is the (+) positive and the Dark Blue is the (-) negative?

Thanks

Nevermind Jeff... I just had a major "duh". The terminal leads face toward the front of the car. I know what you're talking about now. Does a Dark Blue wire connect to the right side though... or do you even have that wire on your car?

Thanks

On a '68, yellow is the hot feed to the washer pump solenoid, and the light blue goes back to the wiper/washer switch where it grounds when you push for the washers; the yellow is a common (spliced) feed for both the wiper motor and the washer pump.
