I believe I have a water pump leak, can't see the weep hole, is there some way to verify my pump is leaking before I replace it?
Also what are the recommendations for a replacement pump? Chrome, orginal equipment, or a high performance alumm one? My car is a 1976 L48, 43,000 miles 100% stock.

The weep hole is at the widest part of the "cone" of the water pump. Simply take a paper towel and wipe the bottom of the cone and check for green coolant powder, or if the towel comes back wet to the touch. Best way, is to pressure test the coolant system to see exactly were the leak is coming from. You can also take a small mirror and look under the cone to notice a leak from the weep hole. I suggest you replace the radiator cap also. If you had access to a complete coolant tester, you could pressure test the cap to see the integrity. Never buy a rebuilt water pump! Most rebuilds won't last long. Replace with an OEM pump for best dependability.

Thanks

Thanks, I am going out to inspest it right now appreciate the response.
