Has anybody used aftermarket weatherstriping on their vettes? If so are you happy with it? I see some on e-bay for much cheaper than OEM. My car leaks like a sieve when it rains.

Thanks,

Mike

I re-did my rear hatch with one from Corvette Central. Looks better, doesn't leak, lots less $$$$ then GM. I thought I would try replacing the worst one and if it was a good product I would buy more. Was just getting ready to order more when my fuel injectors went south. Oh well, it's only money :mad

I suggest you use GM around the windshield. Its softer and will give you a better seal. The others strips you can go with aftermarket. Order from TLD and forget Ebay

beware..rubber ain't just rubber

I had to replace the original windshield weather stripping on my 85 earlier this year. I save a few buck by ordering from weatherstripspecial.com but the fit was questionable. It continued to leak and I have had to spend much time and frustration sealing and resealing with clear silicone, and I HATE the way the residue looks around the window, but at least I'm dry in the rain now. I would advise using the GM OEM product, although I've no direct experience. It just seems like you get what you pay for.

used aftermkt on wifes 88 coupe works fine looks good a lot cheaper bought all on ebay unless you have a garage queen go with oem over priced junk

Here's another place to try, I ordered the front weatherstrip, it was half the GM piece but it is harder rubber. I too have had to go the clear silicone route, but because the water is getting under the corner of the weatherstrip and running down under neath the seal.

I think my windshield has been replaced and poorly, because everything was messed up underneath. I had to adjust the passenger window to stop(slow) the leaks, I haven't attributed my continued leakage to the weatherstrip yet.
