1966,and a 1962 thats almost complete
This morning I had the car 4 cornered scaled

No driver

total weight 5 gallons of gas 3095

front left 835
front right 858
rear left 695
rear right 707
45.3 % meaning its front heavey

W/Driver

Total weight 3292

front left 881
front right 876
rear left 790
rear right 745
46.5 % meaning its still front heavey but with a full tank and a pasenger it may become 50% or neutral

On tuesday I will speak to the shock company and see what there recomendations are for the springs

Just thought I would share this information for other folks setting up one of the tube chassis

front heavy = big block? I wonder what the difference is between small block and big block in weight? I know that different set ups make different use of aluminum in either the block or the heads or both........any ideas on the differences in weight?

Larry:

Good information to know. I hope I can keep the weight of my 59 under 3000. Did you scale each corner individually or all four corners at the same time?

Charles we raised the car up on 4 scales. He then plugged them into a contol board. he had tons of information but had said the above information was all I would need.

The fellow is a local dirt rack racer and mecanic,

I am not sure of the weight difference between the motors.

I would be interested to know my self

based on the different weights at each corner are the shocks set up individually different or does the shock company just look at the info and than decide what type or model shock is best and than each shock is actually the same?
This is interesting because I didn't know you could weigh a car like that and find the weight at each seperate corner.

its the springs we are concerned with,we are actually just concerned with the total front weight and the total rear weight so we can pick the correct springs.the springs set my ride height and free travel.

Right now I have a 2 stage progressive spring that is stacking in the rear because the weight/rate is too soft.

Very interesting Larry. Never thought about the left to right weight differential.

I actually placed the battery in the right rear corner of the trunk to remove some of the weight from the front end and to offset my fat a** in the drivers seat. I will look into aluminum heads this winter to see how much weight it would save.
