Doing a little research on ZR-1’s. Going through my back issues of Corvette Fever. I came across this interesting sidebar.
Taken from the February 1994 issue, page 13.
“Who Buys Corvettes?
Chevrolet recently released new demographics that profile the new Corvette buyer. Female buyers dropped from 25 percent in 1989 to 22 percent in 1992. More college graduates are buying Corvettes and median family income of buyers has jumped from $70,000 to $90,000 for coupes and $80,000 to $100,000 for convertible buyers. ZR-1 customers, on average, earn $232,000.
Only one third of all new Corvette buyers are single, and only a fifth of all buyers will use their new Corvette for daily transportation. A majority of buyers plan to keep their new Corvettes for a minimum of four years.”
$232,000 was a nice salary 11 years ago. It still is 11 years later here in 2005!
