ok, i guess i'll weigh in here too (not that you're going to get too much of a different perspective from me, lol). your asking price is more than fair, but since it's probably not enough to buy anything outright (even if you trade in that 98 saturn, lol), i agree that you should sell off the lady's driver, and either look at a kia or hundai SEDAN. you need an SUV like you need another hole in your head. particularly with gas going for better than 2.25 a gallon for regular. i have owned that jeep you covet and i can tell you it's not a picnic. i had a grand cherokee (6 cyl) with the usual creature comforts, and i was lucky to see 15 MPG on a road trip. 13 was exceptional for city driving!! and for what?? obviously none of us can look into your pockets and see your bank account, but you are way better off keeping your vette and picking up a nice off lease sedan (or a new hundai, etc) and waving goodbye to the saturn.
i can only assume you are serious with the lady (like engaged or something similar, like married, lol), to be taking your vehicle directions from her. if she wants a new car, you should try to work somethng out FOR HER (and by her i feel obligated to say). check out the resale value on a santa fe or something similar with a load of the warranty remaining. let someone else eat the depreciation. i have owned 4 vettes in my lifetime (and i assure you i am a lot passed the age of going to college. i graduated in 1966, lol). i regreted seelling each one shortly after i did it, and somehow managed to allow 10 or more years to elapse between each one. i assure you of one thing, should i ever sell the one i have now it will be only to buy another one. and this one is a bit of a project that will probably take me at least 6 months to finish it off (although it should be road worthy very shortly).
i realize all of this ranting is only each of our $.02, but you wouldn't be here if you weren't passionate about what you currently own and drive. don't pass up this opportunity to hang onto your dream.
