new shocks this week......ac delco reactech .... my only regret is i waited to do it.
man what a great ride now.:bu

Are the new ones gas charged?

Did your old ones come off and just feel limp in your hands?

It is amazing how a shock can wear out.

yes they are gas......the sales guy explained that the reactech have replaced the performer. got them thru Ecklers.....i had them done by a friend that owns a muffler and brake shop. he told me to get them and he would install them ...... kinda did it as a favor. in and out for $20 , no reciept. so i dont know how bad the old gabriel striders were that came off it , but they were toast.
i would recommend these to anybody not happy with there ride. less than $200 to improve it this much .... dont hesitate like i did. later chris.:bu

Bilstien Performance gas shocks

I've got Bilstien Performance gas shocks on my 80 and I like them a lot. They are a little hard in ride quality, but the performance is great. The fastest I've take a corner is about 75km/h and the car felt very stable with the tires I've got on right now, which aren't anything special. My mechanic tells me that with everything we've done to the suspension I could take a right hand corner at 130+ easily. Just thought I'd share my experience with the Bilstien shocks. Hope you enjoy you new shocks vettedude73. Put them to the test and see what they can handle.

I put Delco REATEAC's on my 70 also. Big difference.

They are available from ac delco distributors including chevy dealers and are cheaper than most of the catalogs when you take shipping into consideration.

If you paint them shock absorber grey they are the closest to original look you can get. And they perform great.

$40 each to the front door.....seemed reasonable enough.

:) Are any of you guys running the VB&P or TRW composite monospring in the rear with these shocks?:CAC :pat :pat :pat

im going to the trw composite as soon as i can pry the funds from the vise in my wifes purse! i pumped alot into the vette this winter and its getting harder to get the cash at this time.
we have 3 teenagers.....the oldest starts @ U of M in the fall.
hoping to swing the deal in june.:bu

Been there done that, mine are done with$chool ! Keep us posted as to your likes or dislikes with the spring and shock combo when ya get them

I have the performer shocks with the composite spring. Im actually going to put the bilsteins in the rear to see if it will ride better. I had the bilsteins in all corners once, I though they were a little too stiff.

Im now looking at the blisten sport shocks .

Im looking for a good performance shock , but want to soften the ride as well. IM not racing threw the corners too much so I just want something that will lessin those bumps a bit and I guess not loosing and handling in the corners.

Any recomendations ??

I heard KYB's were good, anyone know how these compair to these reactech??

I would say from what I have read on here that bilsteins are tops (pricey) delco reacts probably second and kyb 3rd and most cost effective

KYBs have a very good ride and handling is OK fine by me. That's what I have -- but I couldn't tell you about the others.
