Hi....
I going to change the tranny fluid in my manual transmission and I can't seem to find a definitive answer. It seems my 2000 Corvette has Dex III from the factory... but seeing as it has 50Kmiles and has never had a change.... I thought I'd go overboard and use Amsoil synthetic... but from what I read...it's not clear if I can use it because GM made a change after 2000 in the manual trannys to carbon fiber for something internal... It's clear in these forum threads that anything after 2000 can use the synthetic..but not clear for any year prior.
any advice or help would be appreciated..

and next i'll tackle the differential ...If you have any preferred products with proven track records...I'd like to hear about them

As for "proven" track records.

For street, I use Gibbs Driven STF which is a low-viscosity, GL4 gear lubricant.

For track, or really aggressive street use, in T56es and T6060s, I use Red Line Superlight Shockproof gear lubricant.
