In a few weeks, I am pulling my engine out of my 76 vette, actually, ripping the engine and trans out. We all know how hot it gets in the cabin of our vettes... Is there anything I can do to the firewall, insulation tape, or something, that will make a big difference? I do have the heater core bi-passed already...

i added aluminum backed insulation from the firewall back. also under each seat..when the tranny is out check and see if the insulation piece is in place on the bottom of the tranny tunnel.
i bought the insulation at lowe's.

There should be a foam seal around the top of the bellhousing to keep hot air from the tunnel area. If you do not have one get one.

I used COOL IT Thermal Tec wrap on my exhaust starting from the manifold flange the hole way back to the tranny mount, it made a huge difference in the temp inside the car and floor. I didn't do anything to the firewall, but couldn't hurt. The stuff smokes for about 5 min. after you start the car, then its fine! I would rate this stuff as a must have for any Vette owner!
