Of the C4 market when the C6 comes out?

Well in most every magazine...website, parts places C-4's are considered red headed step children...except here at CAC.

Kinda like owning a 914 and have someone tell you it really is not a Porsche.

Prices will likely go up some, especially for any special models, and C5s will go down.

I'm thinking the same thing - the price will start raising.

The C4 will be looked at as a desirable/collectable car. Even the NCRS is starting to look at them.

At one time I though about getting an older Vette to play with and fix up. Turns out that I kept my 92 so long that it is now the 'older' Vette. I'm playing with it and fixing it up.

I never knew that... Why are C4's considered the outcasts?

ProTeam Corvettes states that there is an over abundance of them and taht they are not collectible.

I like my '88 just fine.

Large & N Charge . . .

I love the Cockpit feel of my C4! :upthumbs

I've driven some C5's and they r nice, but u just don't get that tight/pilot feel. Someday I will more than likely migrate to a 2002 or later Z06 n my distant future.

Does that mean I inherit the LT4?:cool

Back to the subject:

I'm asking because I love the combination of style, technology, power and not to mention variety the C4's have to offer. I love the look of the car, the power plants aren't shabby and you have so many different trims. I just hope that I can build something to outrun today's cars, kind of like 69MyWay. He runs into other cars on the road and they think they can "push that old Vette' around," but they're in for a surprise.

I think the 'problem' with C4s is that they're not old enough to be classic and not new enough to be the newest model. The arrival of the C6 will put the C5 into that position. And the C4 will start being considered a 'classic'.

At least, this seems to be the way the general population thinks.

For me, I favor the C4 the most out of all the generations currently available. And I've never been subject to just going along with what the general population thinks. I make my own judgement.

And really, I don't think the general population actually looks down on the C4 or anything. I think C4 owners worry about it more than it is real. Hey, european sports car types turn their noses up at everyone else... even other european sports car types. No friendly waves there. So don't sweat it when they 'look down' on us. We're not actually being singled out.

As to keeping up with modern cars? My stock LT4 has yet to be beat by anything so far. And I raced a new Porche the other day. I didn't even know it was a Porche in the dark. I thought it was a Honda sports car (just seeing its front out the corner of my vision). I was shocked that he was able to keep up with me at all until I saw what it was. I beat him by a number of car lengths just jetting up to 60mph or so, even though he started racing first.

These cars ain't slow.

C4's

I bet our cars will follow the financial trend of Corvettes that have come before our C4’s.

For instance, look at ‘82’s now, they are holding their own. When it comes to selling a C3, owners of well kept original cars are justified when asking a premium for their future Bloomington Gold showpieces.

On the negative side, C4s were produced in great numbers, so you either will have to have a car in top condition, or one of the various special editions or engine options to bring a higher dollar in the future.

I don’t worry too much about the future value though, my Corvette is my decompression chamber and it keeps me sane, I keep it clean and maintain the heck out of it. Can’t worry about money all of the time, you have to have some kind of release.

Like Skant, the C4's are my favorite. Not fast enough? That's not a problem, they sell so many high performance parts to make it faster and handle better so that's not an issue.

My goal is a L98 6 speed stroked to 383 with a miniram.:D

This is what will happem...

Actually, now is a great time to still get a good C4, especailly the perferred 94-96 variety.

Just like the C3, you will have different versions that are worth more. I.e., the L-88 vs. a regular 76' 350, etc.

It will become more and more of a sellers market (or go up in value) as the cars become older and more rare.

Those that choose to keep their cars in stock original condition will benefit in the future by doing so. Just like previous models.

special versions like the 96 grand sport, or a 94-95 ZR-1 will command higher prices because of their respective rarity.

Also, one thing that I think will make the 94-96 a much better value compared to others, is that GM did a better job of getting the bugs out of these models in their stock form, plus the engine is more advanced and allows easier mods to get more horsepower. These models also have airbags where as earlier C4's don't.

But I don't think the C5 or the coming C6 will affect the prices at all. One buys a C4 for typically the following reasons. It currently is the best value for a Vette and the post 93 models are fairly clean from an engineering standpoint. Or one just likes the C4 because of it's ability to make a smoker out of a Vette without giving up much reliability. About the only thing negative regarding C4's is at this time it's getting harder to find 1-owner cars to buy. Also, with the relativly cheaper price curretnly for the C4, you find the C4 being owned by younger groups (i.e. teenagers) who unfortunatly destroy them. Thus, you don't want to buy one of these cars (unless you get it really cheap). But the kids will actually help increase the value for those of us who are more on the collector side, because they will diminish the supply. This is similar to what happened to the SS396 Chevelle, 68-69 Roadrunners etc. They used to be all over the place and everybody had one. But they were wasted ( I even remember seeing a 69 RR used in a car bash to raise money), and now they are rare, making them worth way more.

In time, the C4 will increase dramatically and isn't influenedced by previous or successive cars.
