I've found a '99 FRC and I'm in the process of purchasing it. I have a couple questions though. Stock HP being 345, what was the stock torque figures?
Previous owner has installed a Vortex Rammer Ram Air kit, Borla exhaust, and reprogrammed the computer. What kind of HP and torque figures should I reasonably expect to see from those mods? Driving this car felt just like driving my dad's '02 ZO6, although seat of the pants isn't exactly a Dyno, I would place the car pretty darn close ZO6 numbers. Would this be realistic given these mods? There is also a "slight" chance there is a mild cam in the engine as well, but ulikely. Dealer doesn't know anymore than intake, exhaust and computer. Thanks

HI there,
Realistically, unless you can absolutely confirm the cam, I would put your numbers at about 315-320 at the wheels.
Stock 02 LS6 would put 345 at the wheels.
I would first remove the computers, and put another one in with a stock calibration, as this will assist in later mods, without interference with the drivability, and the option to update the program with GM programs down the line.
With an 01 intake manifold, and throttle body, you might get to 333 at the wheels.
If they cannot confirm these mods, like the cam, I would suggest going else where, because you do NOT know what they are attempting to sell.
Please let us know if we can help further, c4c5:hb

I don't intend to do any more mods to the car, well not in the foreseeable future anyways. If I did have anything done, I would be looking towards Lingenfelter to do a complete rebuild, 383, supercharged, etc...hey, if I'm gonna do something, I'm gonna do it BIG!!!:bu Seeing that I wouldn't have the money for that kind of operation, and the capabilities of this car already far exceed my Lt1/auto I have now, I expect to do nothing to very little performance mods to this car. Perhaps when I win the lottery and can get into a C6 and take it from dealer to performance shop I'll worry about big numbers.
Thanks for the info though, I'll at least roughly what to expect when I take it to the dyno (assuming my buyer brings some cash to me to take mine off my hands!!!!)
One other thing I was considering...The "Cold Air Hood" or the "High Rise Hood"...Both on page 242 of the newest Eckler's catalogs. I've seen the cold air hood in person and really like the looks of it, but I'm not sure I want holes in my hood since this is a daily driver car and occasionally we do get snow and ice, lots of rain etc...So I'm leaning towards the high rise. Question being, does having the high rise hood increase or decrease air flow around the engine/through the radiator? In other words, will it cause any problems such as over heating, excess dust and dirt accumulation, etc? I know, off the wall question, but I think out side the box!:gap
Thanks ahead of time for any guidence :w
