Welcome to the Corvette Forums at the Corvette Action Center!

What I did this week end

Very, very nice! :upthumbs

Where're you located again? Ya wanna help me with mine? ;LOL

Wow! That looks fantastic. You did a great job on that dash. That steering wheel really suits the C1 era too.

Keep all the pics and info coming, we all enjoy it tremendously!

Take care,
Brian

Looking good Larry! What is the diameter of that wheel? I still have not bought a wheel since I didn't know if a 14" wheel would block the view of my gauges. Budnik makes a 15.5" wheel that is flat like the original, but I still have not decided yet.

John that is the budnic flat trac wheel. My 66 came with a flat 14" lecarro wheel I installed it on the 62 and it cuts off the veiw of the top gauges,so I went with the larger 15 1/2. the extra 3/4" on the top made a world of difference.I think the perfect diameter would be 16 1/4.If you want to borrow it to try it on your car let me know.

Remember last minute I droped my floor mount for the column lower to lessen the angle of my universal joints and to pull the wheel up a little higher above my knees.

Thanks Again for sharing the photos of yours had I not seen that it could be done I never would have thought of the idea on my own

I had planned on having the plate that the speedo and the tach mount to covered with black leather to match the steering wheel. My wife think I should keep it the way it is except to sand it the same as the bezels aound the gauges.

Any thought from you guys

Looks good, try putting a sandpaper "tootsie roll" in a drillpress to get a engine turn look

Larry,

How about some type of brushed plate like the original door panels?

Everything looks great, no matter what you decide it will look great.

Larry,

Is that their half wrap or it is their flat track? I thought that the flat track wheel had no dish to it just like the original C1 wheel and was a full wrap, and did not have the billet aluminum on the back side. Thanks for confirming that the 14" wheel would end up blocking my spedo and tach, I was pretty sure that would be the case.

Your dash looks absolutely stunning, Larry!! Congrats!!

Thanks Larry,

That is the same wheel that I have been looking at. Did you buy it direct or through a dealer, and what do they charge for it?
