For those that might know, I have 90 L98. Under the hood on the drivers side just in front of the wheel well (?Spelling) There is this ball shaped object (like a childs basketball but plastic), and a cylindrical tube shaped object. Not sure what the ball is for, but traced the wiring back to the having something to do with the throttle. As fast as the cylindrical shaped object, I have no idea on what tha could be. Just trying to figure out what things are under the hood. Also, anyone have a used FSM for a 90 model vette? Haven't checked the dealer yet but will if I can't find one soon. I've seen the 89 model floating around on ebay, but with a vette, I'm not interested unless its a 90 model. Kind of anal when it comes to things I want to do, dont want them unless they are the right thing. I'm sure there are others around that feel the same with there toys. Thanks for any and all information on figuring out what these two things do.

The black round plastic ball is the vacuum reservoir. This holds vacuum, so the vacuum controls (Cruise Control & HVAC controls in dash) will have enough vacuum to work when we are mashing the gas pedal down to the floor.

Go to www.helminc.com to find a FSM. Or ebay. Dealers do not have them. Except for their technicians.

SAVE THE :w!

Thanks, what about the long cylindrical item. Its about eight inches tall by six inches wide with some hose's that come from the bottom and aren't connected to anything (not sure if they are supposed to be connected to anything). Any help on this one? Thanks LT4Man for the info on the other piece on the car.

possibly the gas evaporation canister . If you look close the hoses underneath are routed so they are hard to see. I though mine was not connected till I took a flashlight and stuck my head in there.
