These are the Manual over-rides for your Headlights ; Windshield Wiper Door and Windshield Wipers. They are used to change Headlights and Wiper blades. The Knob in the center stalls the Wipers so you can replace them. I think the pull down switch to the right of the knob stalls the Headlights up so you can replace a lamp. The other pull down stalls out the Wiper door to allow the Wiper Blade to be changed. USA 1972. No Kidd'in!!!

A fellow Scandinavian! :beer

I don't know. If you are trying to get your wipers to work, the wiper door must be sensed closed before it will open; the door must be sensed open before the wipers will move. The by-pass switch BYPASSES these switches and opens the wiper door. There is timing involved also. I just use the manual switch to open the door and then turn the wipers and keep driving/enjoying the car.

Sorry Johan, I couldn't resist it! :D I don't recognize anything in that picture.

But on a more serious note norway, I bought a reproduction manual for my 73 when I visited the NCM in July. There's actually quite a lot of interesting stuff in there, including details about the headlamp door knob, for example. Might be worth buying one for your '72. I'm sure you can find them on the web.

I'll try to explain....without getting too technical.

The left side "switch" is a vacuum valve. Pull down on the switch...and the headlights will open (if the engine is running), but not turn on. This is used to over-ride the headlight switch....or to open the headlights without turning them on.

The right side "switch" is also a vacuum valve. Pull down on the switch....and the windshield wiper cover door should open (again if the engine is running)...but the wipers will not work. This is just to open the wiper door.

The center switch is an electrical switch. It is used to interrupt the power to the wiper motor...to stop the wiper blades anywhere on the windshield. I THINK turning the switch to the left is off...and to the right is on....but I will need to check this weekend if you want me to.

Good luck....
