I am going to change my oil on my vette for the first time since i've owned it, and I was wondering what brand of oil filter I should use. Post what brand you use in your vette, so I can se what most people use. Thanks!

Depends on how often you plan on changing oil.
If you change it at 40 or 50% life use the standard filter (<$$). If you wait until the 90+ life I would use the long life (>$$)
I would also put in a magnetic drain plug and watch for the rocker needle bearnings the next time you change oil (bad if you don't catch it early).
When you do change it make sure you keep the rear a little higher than the front for the best drain angle.

AMSOIL SDF-32 We use it on Theresa's 2002 EB Coupe, we use the Amsoil filters on our daily drivers, I am impressed with the results of using amsoil synthetics and their filters I do 5K mile intervals on my sonoma and the oil is still very clean. Thats why I sell their products.

I change @50% Mobil 1 oil -Mobil 1 filter. I also write down the bar code number and lot number of any product used.

The AC Delco PF46 that came on it from the assembly plant will be just fine.

Remo

Since his car is a '97 it came with the Delco PF44. ;) But since it's been superseded by the PF46, the PF46 will be just fine. :D

BTW Remo, the weather down here was fantastic yesterday. Mid 80's, picture perfect, top down driving.:L

Leon,

I didn't want to confuse the subject with the Delco PF44 evolution not to mention the $1.19 increase in price for the PF46. As you remember this subject of "what oil filter do you use" made my top 10 list on "C5 threads we never want to see again."

Thanks for the weather update - you're killing me. About two more weeks up here and mine gets put away - and then I'm back on the medication again.

And your other favorite was tips and tricks for changing oil in the C5. Surprised I didn't see you post in the other thread I saw started. ;)

As for the weather, this is the first real convertible weather we've had. I changed the oil in the C4 the other day and realized I only put 2k miles on it in a year and a half. We don't get as much nice vert weather down here as many people think. I think I have a couple more days of this before hurricane Wilma pays the state of Florida a visit. :(

Leon, stop trying to provoke Remo. When he goes over the edge, invariably, Tammy (Ms. Schroeder) and I have our hands full trying to reel him back in. If you push him over now, he'll spend all winter teetering on the brink.

As to the subject of the thread, I will agree with Vett Boy and say I prefer Mobil 1 Synthetic Oil and Mobil 1 Filters.

Remo, go drive your Vette. Go spend some quality Zen time with her. :)

You know I've heard that those Mobil 1 filters are "ever" so much better than those awful AC Delco PF46's. I even heard that the PF46's are designed to let the "big chucks" flow right on through. At AC Delco they have a new motto "go with the flow and the rest will take care of itself."

"Help me - I think I'm going over the edge."

Saw the mobil 1 filters at Auto Zone today but no guide as to Which One.

Anyone have a part / model # for me?

Thanks
Rain

Dwayne - do you ever do anything else but surf the forum? HAHAHA!

Always appreciate ya my friend,
Rain

Going well - (not to hijack the thread for long)
Its still pretty bad down here. But the any area that is still standing is thriving.
Alas, there is alot that just isnt standing - "It's Gone!" is a new phrase we use each day now.

We work thru what each day gives us!
Rain(thanks for asking)
