I'll admit that I prefer the updated 2000 stock rims over yours. However my brother has the chrome ones like yours on his pewter convertible and they look great. That's what I voted for. Good luck on your new purchase!:dance

I voted for original in chrome. Don't disguise your model as a newer model year by changing the wheels. The chrome looks great on the 97-99 models. I plan to go chrome when I finally jump to the C5 - and from the looks of things it will probably be a 98 or 99 model. ..........my .02 !

what looks pretty sweet too is black A-Mold's (ZR1 style). I have read that ZO6's are faster with the ZR1 17 inch wheels than with the stock ZO6 wheel.

I have also seen your style wheel in black too, and they look really good, especially on a black car.

Slickman,
It looks like the Y2K polished wheels are winning...see I was right.:D

Seriously, if you decide to go with the polished wheels, I know a guy that recently upgraded to bigger wheels (18" & 19" and tires and is selling his OEM polished wheels. His car is his weekend toy and the wheels are immaculate.

Let me know if you're interested and I'll put you in touch with him.

Whatever you decide on, good luck with that black beauty!

Regards,

Pedro

Oaky, give me his contact info and if the price is right maybe...

You have mail.

I vote for those too even though they're not on the list! :L:L:L

Paint those calipers red and it'll look like a Corvette's modern day version of Knight Rider! Actually, it'll look more intimidating than the Knight Rider ever was.

One small warning about chrome rims. A common problem is the outside looks great but where the tire bead contacts the rim is usually where the chrome stops and over time starts to seperate from the rim (gets flaky), and the tire developes a slow leak. I have had 3 out of 4 rims do this. The tire shop had to put a sealant around the bear to stop it from leaking. Just a warning....

Whatever style you decide to go with, go for the best quality wheel, not the best deal wheel............

Weld Evo's or Mallet 5(split spokes)i know there not on the list, but there are so many rims for the c5 i would go away from stock, just my opinion. Todd.

Best performance deal out there is over at the z06 site. Most often Z06 owners who want new wheel and tire combos sell the tires and wheels with very low miles for between 1000 and 1500 dollars..Sometimes 2 grand but less so now a days.

I vote for Z06 taken off for wider rims by an owner.

Mounted balanced and ready to go..

You can turn off the need for sensors with ls1 edit.

Swapping out for Z06 rims/tires is an excellent performance mod thats inexpensive too boot..(if you need tires)

Buy a compressor... , some tire sealant and a tire plug for all of 30 dollars and you go to go with a kit similar to what GM gives the Z06.

A z51 equipped corvette with z06 tires and wheels pulls with in .02 g's of the Z06. Check out this months Corvette suspension and tire test in Car and Driver.

I think it will help make your decision easier.

weld-evo,or mallet or...can even use your stock sensors without run-flats.no offense to zo6 owners, but everyone has those rims, even the cameros,i would imagine thats why zo6 owners are getting rid of them.personaly,i dont think they look all that great anyway.the black ones with the polished lip are a little better looking, let us know what you get and post some pictures.later,Todd.

No offense taken..I just mentioned the Z06 rim /tire deal because its such a cost effective performance mod.

Good luck choosing..

First set a budget and decide if you want runflats or not.

Todd,

That's a good point there. They're even putting those wheels on Cavaliers! Isn't anything Corvette exclusive anymore? :L:L

1600 bucks you can get the lightest strongest wheels out there..

They are called CCW but the look might not be to your liking.

Whatever you do. Don't buy reproduction rims. They are cheaper but heavy and thats the last thing you want to do.
