I just repainted my front and rear urethane bumper. I used PPG Acrylic lacquer Question is i can see some sanding marks in the paint that I would want to rub out by hand. I have tried Turtle wax white polishing compound but it is not very aggresive and doesnt hardly dent the lacquer. Can anyone recommend a compound to use? I will be doing it by hand.
Thanks

Try the 3M medium cut rubbing compound P/N 39001

That should get the fine scratches out. Then follow up with swirl mark remover, they sell it for light or dark colored paint.

It sounds like the scratches you are seeing are under the paint and not on top.Did you sand and polish it after you painted it?If not they are under the paint. You can sand and polish the scratches out but they will probably come back when the car sits in the sun.

I havent sanded the bumper after painting it, I just tried some white polishing compound on a small spot but it was a very mild compound and would hardly cut the lacquer. The scratches are under the paint from where I sanded the urethane down during prepping the bumper. They didnt show when I put the PPG plastic adhesion promoter on as a primer as it is a clear non sandable primer. I guess I should have used a sandable primer but, what s done is done. I will try wet sanding it with a 1500 or 2000 paper and then polishing it.
