Found this hook up under the driver dash while trying to fix the radio. Does anyone have any ideas this is a 1993 Convertable

Glad to hear you were able to get the radio out.
Just a guess on this connection. Does your car have manual temperature controls for the climate control? Maybe this is a hook up for the electronic controls (digital temp. display).

its digital, and it seems to work fine, at least it tells me what is going on re: outside temp/inside temp etc

Here is NJ that ALDL connector has to be accessable when the auto is inspected or they fail you. I'm not sure how it works in other states. They hook up to the cars computer and look for DTC's and other history.
