My Moroso covers won't clear the Crane 1.6 RR's and the SR. Also hoping to find something that seals well with the AFR's and not leak.

I've been told these heads are hard to get a good seal on. It has also been suggested that I might grind the covers a little to make them clear, not to sure about that idea.

center bolt or side bolt, stock corvette covers fit fine w/ 1.6's and AFR's - with a bit of internal grinding on the "stalagtites" that protrude down from the top (inside) surface.

Hope this helps :beer

*89x2* Should have mentioned that. They are center bolt. So, I can just grind those down until I can slip them on clearancewise, huh? I'll have to takea look at that. Thanks:beer

you should be able to grind down the drip tabs so the 1.6 roller rockers will clear.

Thats what I did when I ran my 355/afr/s.r. combo with outter perimeter valve cover bolts.

yes, you can grind down those stalagtites till the stock center bolt cover fits down on the gasket seal. I cut mine way down.

also, with my AFR heads w/ roller rockers, super ram, and stock covers, I had to go a little further and cut out the metal gasket lip on the top, inside of the covers. you will find it hits some roller rockers in this area.
this allowed the covers to slip between the runners and the rockers.

I use the felpro rubber gasket and glue them on my covers, never had a leak.

I later picked up some aftermarket valve covers, and they were taller as well as wider, I had to do the above mods, and I had to use a sanding drum and actually remove some of the edge from the top of the valve covers. I cut into it where the super ram runners were, these slide in easily now as well. The cut patterns match up to the super ram runners really close, so you cant realy tell I cut them.

Hope this helps you out some

Thanks Bill, I think that's what I'm gonna have to do. Do you glue the gaskets with the yellow 3m weatherstrip adhesive or something else?

sr ongoing nightmare

i too had a clearence problem. with the valve covers i bought. i think you can see them in my avtar. they are polished, taller than stock covers with the chevy logo engraved. came in a gm box. but i also have the sr intake and that is your problem. the runners squat more thus impeading the clearance. i spent $180.00 on the covers and had to grind at least $80 dollars worth off just to make them fit. if you put alittle force on them while trying to put them on you will be able to tell where they are hitting inside and out. the sr intake runners are making you go in at an angle that is contacting the rockers and studs. you will have to grind the spots indicated in side and out. i spent at least an hour gingerly grinding the contact spots. the super ram, what a gift that keeps on giving. ill take mine with vaseline.
