Best was one of its last...the G8. An outstanding example of what an American company could do if the challenge was a high-performance mid-sized sedan.

Problem is...the G8 came too late and had to go against the tide of stupid anti-American consumers stuck on BMW, Mercedes and Lexus products.

I guess if your talking past Pontiac's it would have to be the GTO. My first car was a 1966 Pontiac Catalina, a true land yacht, seats were as big as couches, had plenty of power for a big car. Looking back with 20/20 vision, along with the past Vettes I owned, I wished I kept the Catalina too..............

I guess I'll have to go with GTO!!:D:D:D

Don't have them advertised!!
But Yes,
If the coins are right,Their "For Sale"!!:thumb

I'd have to vote for more than one .Personally I'd drop Buick (old folks car )before Pontiac .Pontiac has a more youthful image .

If traffic is being held up by someone driving 1 mph below the speed limit it's usually a Buick.

Yeah jgassaway, I also had a 87 Pontiac 6000, never had a problem with it, sold it for 2grand with 120,000mi. on it.

I will have to vote with my heart ;)

My very first brand spanking new car was a 1969 Firebird 400 :thumb

There is one for sale here in Amarillo. It's original except for the Craigers. Just a tad steep on the price ($26,900)...

If it weren't for the personal attachment, and I would have to pick from the list above, it would be the 1966 - 1967 GTO :dance

I was simply asking a question about some of the other great vehicles that Pontiac has produced over they many years.

Although I never owned one, I always liked the ~1967/8 Lemans convertible with the sprint 6 and the four speed ... and the red plastic fenderwells with redline tires. This was a sweet little car on the european style. Power with lots of revs/gears. it would be a winner today. The problem was that the market was not ready for that since the 326 V8 cost only a few bucks more, which was wildly successful.

BTW: Over Head Cam, with 4 barrel carb.
They also had an econo model 1bbl carb and lower power.

Had a '85 Fiero GT but traded it in for a pickup so I could tow my '68 SCCA Solo II Corvette roadster. Always thought that if GM had allowed the model to continue it would have been a nice mid-engined vette alternative. I would have liked to have seen it with a powerful V6 (250+)and a 6-speed. My GT had 140hp from the 2800cc V6. Could hardly keep up with the Honda Civic Si's in Solo II.

I had a 1975 Formula 400, what a torque monster... gas mileage?? what gas mileage?? drive it like you stole it!!

I agree.

What don't get is why they are keeping HUMMER. That is ridiculous. They have Chevy trucks, GMC, and HUMMER- what gives? Those three vie for the same market share.

I always thought Pontiac was the "Acura" of GM, Cadddy was the "BMW", Chevy was the "Toyota", Saturn was the "Scion", and Buick was the "Lincoln". HUMMER makes no sense on the balance sheet in tough times.

Personally, I believe that Obama & the Dems pushed for the elimination of a division to show who had the power. Why not?- They fire executives too. Why not stop there?

Enjoy it while it lasts. Pretty soon we'll be driving one type of car- authorized by the government to be built to their specs. They'll pick one color each year and we'll have to put our names on a waiting list. Sound familiar?
