I'm in the processing of purchasing a 1995 Corvette but this one has a Corvette plate with emblem over a five inch square area above the climate control. On another model it appears to be a display, or status lights of sometype. Was this an option for Corvettes and it's normal to have or not have this emblem covering this area.

Thanks Rick

NOOOOOOO!!!!

That's the ECM Display!

It shows the ASR, AIR BAGS, ABS, LOW OIL, SERVICE ENGINE SOON, ETC. Status.

There must be a problem or ignorance to put something over it!

(I wouldn't do it )

My two cents.

George

Several of the aftermarket catalogs have a "display cover" which just press fits in there. That is a status display. These covers are advertised to trim up the area, yet still enable the display to be read thru the cover. Hopefully the logo is not over the top of some real important info.

From the add it is simple a press fit which makes it sound real easy to remove.

Zixxer, You are correct that is the area where any errror codes would be displayed. Pop that cover off and then test drive for at least 30 minutes and see if anything shows up.
Good Luck, Tim

Thank you thank you thank you I'm calling to have them test right now.

By the way, is $9100.00 for a 1995 LT1 Corvette a good price? Seems low but it's the second one I've found and it's very clean....clean as in sound, good title search, two owners, maintenance records, etc. I know it was traded on a newer Vette.

Sounds like a good price. And if it was traded as you say for another Vette, then it was probably well-maintained as well. Most Corvette owners care quite a bit about their cars. :v

I have a cover on mine, it says LT4. It is clear and you can see right through it. Guy

I would have to ask if the antenna is stuck extended, or did he just take all of the pictures with the radio turned on? Or is that normal with aftermarket electronics?

The cover plate does NOT block any error warnings. The warning lights will show brightly even through the white emblem, even during the day. It's just a nice dress-up piece.

If everything it's OK go for it! (I thought it was some kind of aluminum plate) I think it's a nice price!

Thanks to those that responded to my posts in the last couple of days. I literally had 10 cars lined up at the same time and I had doubts on what the right decision was for a tall guy (6' 5").

I almost got a 1995 for about $9100 but after a follow up and a car fax I dropped it.....

I finally dropped 11k on a 1996 Torch Red with a little too many miles but in really good shape (91,450 miles).

It's sweet and just needs a few cosmetic things from normal wear and tear but overall it's really really nice and I think the price to value really sold me.

I will be reviewing the forums to play catch up and what I should know as I assume each model year has its quirks and solutions. Any tips or things I should do right off would be appreciated as I plan to take care of this baby. A fresh fill of Mobil One and fluids will be my first thing....followed by the mandatory waxing and photos.

Rick,

Congrats on the new member of your family. The biggest thing I can recommend for this car is DO NOT spray the engine with water. The distibutor is located directly below the water pump on the front of the motor and it will soak up water like a sponge. Damp rags will be your safest way to clean under the hood.

I know you'll enjoy it.

Jeff

Congrats on the new vette!

Again, dont spray the engine with water.
That was first thing they told me here.

Enjoy,
Rain

Congrats for your new babe!

The best advice I can give you is: DRIVE IT!!

Drive it the most you can, so you can know it and love every part of this wonderful pieces of art. :w

I really love mine!!!

George

Congrats on your new baby.

I am sure you will love it as much as I love mine
